April 2019, Week 1

April 2019, Week 1

Spring is a time for us to celebrate after a long winter of both growth and planning. We look forward to it every season and this year is no different. To celebrate, we are hosting an egg hunt just like the Petersen kids did on the farm from generations past with eggs carefully hidden throughout the farm.

Make sure to mark your calendars for our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00 am-2:00 pm.  Eggs are first come, first serve, so we encourage you to come and enjoy the farm at your leisure and see what the Easter Bunny has stashed in every nook and cranny.

This week in your Simple Share...

Carrots - one bag

Honey Roasted Carrots

Microgreens - one bag

Arugula and Microgreen Salad

Kale - one bunch

Chicken, Kale, and Sweet Potato Stew

Swiss Chard - one bunch

Swiss Chard Potato Chive Frittata

Spinach - one bag

We have been growing spinach in our hoop houses all winter long, and we harvest each morning so it's fresh for your pick-up. You may have met Farmer William in the Market--he has been the main farmer looking after and taking care of the hoop houses over the winter. About a week ago we excitedly welcomed back our Field Team. They are a huge part of the farm and how we keep things going. The field team helps prepare the fields, plant, water, harvest, work on tractors, and much more, and they will be the ones to pick your spinach the morning of your pick-up.

Fennel - one bunch

Fennel and Rosemary Sautéed Chicken Breasts

Green Onions - one bunch

Adding chopped green onions to any of the included recipes will liven up each of the meals, we especially recommend adding it to your stew and frittata.

Apples - 3 lb

Don't forget the peanut butter that you received in last week's share--that's our favorite way to eat apples!

Bro Joe's Salad Dressing - two jars
Bro Joe's salad dressing is a favorite in the Market. We especially love that each bottle includes only a few carefully selected ingredients. Simplicity at its best.
