Goats teach us that something wild and sure-footed lives within, even in the harshest conditions. Become a part of the herd in this 4-week series as we journey toward a new understanding of the natural world and cultivate the traits of goats: agility, presence, and a little mischief— your guide, a confident, curious creature inclined to play even amidst inhospitable surroundings.

Goats are beings of the mountainsides and desert sands, thriving in some of the world’s rockiest and driest places. The Kinlands herd are gentled relatives of these wild animals. From them, we can learn to channel a spirit of resilience as we seek the things we need and want in life, even as we evade danger.

Over the course of four Saturday mornings, you’ll develop a bond with your goat by grooming, feeding, training, and walking alongside them. We'll talk about the social lives of goats, herd dynamics, and how goats play. Direct observation is the m teacher, so you’ll also have quiet time and space to work with and learn from your goat.

Although you’ll learn a bit about how to care for a goat during these sessions, the essence of this program is learning to see yourself, your goat, and the world around you in new ways. Look up to the peaks where the ancients believed the gods lived, and you might see a goat. They are nimble, fearless, regal, and territorial. They are playful, sentient, and observant. And curious, willing to eat almost anything (or at least try) as they sample the medicine and nutrition in all life.

They are nuanced. Closed into a cage, they’ll likely rebel and find an escape. But given a choice, they’ll stay close to home, come when called, and follow.

This inclusive workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about goats and the earthbound lessons they impart. Leave your cell phone in the car and let your goat guide you down the path of remembering — where you are nature, adaptable, and instinctive as your animal kin.

We’ll meet every Saturday morning for four weeks from 9:00-10:00 a.m. If you’re interested in bringing someone you know along with you, purchase the companion pass, a $25 add-on for a second person.

After your workshop, you’re welcome to extend your stay by visiting our year-round shoppe to enjoy a cup of tea and fill your basket with fresh, local produce and thoughtful home goods for the week ahead. From fresh berries and pastries to cozy beeswax candles and soothing goat milk lotion, our well-curated collection features all of the natural goods we love most here at The Kinlands.

*Ages 6-100 welcome. No prior experience with goats is necessary.
**Tickets are non-refundable. Sessions occur rain or shine.
