You might think there’s little to see or do at The Kinlands on a winter’s day. But this season of cold and rest brings the quietest of gifts, easily overlooked. As the plants and animals turn inward, we too are given the opportunity to return to our innermost spirit, find the light within, and assess whether we’ve been true to the most distilled essence of ourselves.
On a crisp weekend morning of your choice, a Kinlands host will guide you for 30 minutes from the barn to pasture and beyond, as you open your heart and mind to the sounds, scents, and feelings of this sacred season. We hope it will invite you further into quiet reflection, rest, dormancy, and the journey inward.
Listen to the sound of the ice cracking, watch the geese glide through the sky as they migrate ever-south, smell the smoke from the bonfire, taste the fresh, clean snow, and feel a horse’s warm winter coat beneath your hands.
The experience you have during your visit will be completely unique based on the natural rhythms and weather of the day at hand, but land experiences typically revolve around the animals. You might help feed the goats or ensure the horses’ water hasn’t frozen. No matter what, you’ll get a glimpse of life as it unfolds at The Kinlands that day.
We welcome anyone who wishes to escape from the bustle of daily life and soak up all that nature has to offer, including individuals, groups, field trips, and families.
During this special morning, you’ll remember that you, too, are nature and that you have her secrets written in your bones.
